Huntsman, the world’s leading specialty chemicals giant, successfully commissioned its Tianjin polyurethane compounding plant
Chinanews.com, Beijing, June 11 (Reporter Yan Xiaohong) Huntsman Group, the world’s leading specialty chemicals company, held a flag-raising ceremony for its polyurethane composite plant in Tianjin Nangang Industrial Zone on the 11th, and announced that Huntsman Polyurethane Tianjin Composite Plant completed the commissioning and put into operation. This marks the official entry into the trial production phase of Huntsman’s milestone project in the north and deepening its commitment.

Pan Lvmin, President of Huntsman Polyurethanes Asia Pacific, delivered a speech: Under the epidemic, the smooth progress of the Tianjin factory project is inseparable from the strong support of the Nangang Industrial Zone Management Committee and an open and fair business environment. We are confident in the resilience and potential of China’s economy. The Tianjin Composite Plant is the first plant established by Huntsman Group in northern China, and is of great strategic significance to Huntsman’s continuous development in China. We hope to actively participate in the process of green transformation and upgrading of China’s manufacturing industry, use advanced technology to produce sustainable and high-performance products, and practice the circular economy based on the four sustainable innovations to meet the growing needs of Chinese customers.
Since 1992, when the first foreign-funded technical service center in the field of polyurethane was registered in Shanghai, and in 2019, when the Asia-Pacific regional headquarters was established in Shanghai, Huntsman has successively invested 15 billion yuan in China. The newly built composite material plant named “Huntsman Composites (Tianjin) Co., Ltd.” has successfully completed the entire production process and successfully produced the first batch of polyurethane products. It is expected that after the official operation, the annual production capacity of the Tianjin plant will reach 70,000 tons.
In the future, after the polyurethane Tianjin plant is officially completed and put into operation, Huntsman will continue to work with partners to focus on downstream industries and continue to innovate.
